Things You'll Need:
- light airy clothing
- cotton balls
- rubbing alcohol
- witch hazel
- soap
- water
- wash cloth
-
Step 1
Remove heavy clothing from area (if applicable). If boil is on your backside, get a loved one or trusty friend to help.
-
Step 2
Wash area gently with warm soap and water, pat dry. Apply rubbing alcohol around and on boil with cotton ball. Let dry. Apply witch hazel to area.
-
Step 3
Re-dress yourself with light, airy fabrics. You will need to repeat step 2 THREE times daily until infection has disappeared.
-
Step 4
This really isn't a step but do not squeeze boil. When you do, most of the infection is released back into your body, then producing yet another pimple or boil. After performing step 3, your boil may ooze, this is good, do not squeeze, wipe the fluid with a clean tissue or sterile gauze if you have it.
Also, make sure this is truly a boil and not a foreign object under your skin such as a splinter. If it is a splinter or foreign object, seek medical attention immediately.
