Things You'll Need:
- 4 cups of diced tomatoes
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 4 medium cloves of garlic
- 1/4 cup of hot peppers
- 1/4 cup of vinegar
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1tsp. pepper
-
Step 1
Dice up the tomatoes. They should be in cubes about a quarter to a half inch thick. Add these to a cold pot. All of the ingredients for this homemade salsa recipe will go into the pot eventually.
-
Step 2
Chop up the onions and garlic. These should be finely chopped to make sure they make their way through the salsa. You may want to add more or less onions based on the potency of the onion. Every one is different.
-
Step 3
Chop up the peppers. You may also want to add more or less peppers based on the spiciness of the ones you choose. Add these to the pan too. Remember that peppers get spicier when you cook them.
-
Step 4
Add the sugar, salt and pepper. At this time you may also want to do some personalization by adding some oregano, cumin or whatever else you think might make the salsa better. Remember; make the homemade salsa recipe your own.
-
Step 5
Place the pan over medium heat. When pan comes up to temperature, reduce to low heat and simmer until thick, stirring occasionally.
-
Step 6
Let the salsa cool and put it into jars. Chill before consuming.
