Things You'll Need:
- images to use on your cards
- an idea of how you would like your card to look and what you would like on your card.
-
Step 1
The first thing you need to do is open up all the images you are going to use for your card in Paint Shop Pro (PSP). On this particular card I used 5 images. . . The pics of the four kids and the snowy background image.
-
Step 2
The next step for the card I made was to change all the images to sepia toning. To do this go to. . .
Effects menu -> Photo effects -> Sepia toning -
Step 3
Now you need to open up a blank page to bring together all your images on. For this card I made it a 5 x 7 inch card. Go to. . .
File -> New -> Choose your width and height by inches and select the background color for your card. -> Click OK. -
Step 4
If you would like to add a picture in the background of your card . . .
You will now need to copy the picture of the background for your card. To do this. . .
Edit -> Copy
Now go back to your blank 5 x 7 card and paste it on your card.
Edit -> Paste
** Position your background scene where you want it on the card
** For my card I made the background snowy scene lighter by changing the image opacity for that layer of the card.
To do this. . .
Make sure the layers toolbar is being shown. On the right hand side of the screen you should be able to view the layers of your card. If you don't see this go to View -> Palettes -> put a checkmark beside Layers.
* On your layers toolbar there is a slide bar where you can change the opacity of that layer. Make your background as light as you want it here. -
Step 5
Now that you have your background you can start arranging your images by copying and pasting them on your 5 x 7 card. Keep doing that until you have all your images where you want them. You can change the size of your images and move them around with the arrow button on the left side of your screen.
-
Step 6
To add lines to your card do this. . .
* Select the pen button on the left side of the page
* Select the line style and width that you want
* Now draw the lines on the card where you want them -
Step 7
You can also add a border to your card by doing this. . .
Image -> Add borders -> Select the color and width of your border and click OK. -
Step 8
To add the words. . .
* Click the A / Font button on the left side of the screen and click on your card.
* Type in your message
* To change the font and size of your message make sure that you have the words selected
* Once you have the words selected you can change the look of the font on the top toolbar. You can also change the color of the font on the right hand side of the screen.
* Now to move the message where you want it click on the arrow on the left side of your screen and click on the message you typed. -
Step 9
There are many, many options for creating cards in PSP! Have fun, play around, and see what you can come up with. Now you have the option of printing these on your own printer or uploading it to a online photo printing service and getting them printed for you!

on 12/31/2008 Great article. I love it. I don't have Paintshop Pro, but I will see if I can do it with Adobe. I never thought about making a card using paint. Keep the articles coming. My daughter would love this also.
