Things You'll Need:
- Doctor's eyeglass prescription
- Measuring tape
-
Step 1
Go to your eye doctor and get a recent eyeglass prescription. Ask your doctor if he/she could also measure your pupillary distance (the distance between your two pupils)
-
Step 2
If your prescription is single vision, you can get your eyeglass for $20.00 dollars. If it is a bifocal, it will be about $50-60 dollars. Still a lot cheaper than $100.00 dollars or more.
-
Step 3
Go on-line to the website: zennioptical.com. Zenni Optical provides cheap eyeglasses as low as $8.00 dollars an eyeglass frame. My first pair was an $8.00 dollar one and it lasted for more than a year until I accidentally smashed it with a luggage. I just bought a second pair which has the Titanium frame for $19.00. Total cost with shipping and handling is $27.90 dollars. It is fits perfectly and looks great!
-
Step 4
At Zenni Optical, there are several frames to choose from. You will need to know the frame width, temple arm length, and lens width, height, and bridge measurements. To make it easier for you, go to an eyeglass shop and try on some eyeglass frames that you like. Each frame has a label on one of the arm handles. Write that information down and go online and find the specs for it. You now have an idea how the glasses will look like on your face without having to do all that measuring.
-
Step 5
After you have picked your frame, you will need to enter your prescription. The website has detailed instructions on where each information should go.
-
Step 6
Next is the Pupillary Distance (PD). If your doctor could not measure the pupil distance, you can have a friend help you measure the pupil distance with a measuring tape. The pupil distance is important in ensuring the lens has your prescription centered. NOTE: You should also be able to get your PD from your previous eyeglass supplier, this figure does not expire with age, they have to give it to you by federal law as well as your full prescription, it is your property.
-
Step 7
You are almost done. Enter your order information. Shipping cost is a low $4.95 dollars. My first glasses totaled to $19.85 ($8.00 frames) and my second pair was $27.90 ($19.00 titanium frames). Zenni is pretty good at shipping your eyeglasses within two weeks or less.
-
Step 8
Enjoy your new glasses and know that if it breaks, you can just buy another one on-line!
