Texts Can Be Annoying and Expensive

If you pay for your texts, 10 cents or 25 cents, per text can really add up! Don't let it! Your phone bill is a good way to save money, read over these ideas and see if they can help you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When you get a text, call your friend back instead of texting back. This usually also reminds them to not text you.

  2. Step 2

If it's a holiday, don't open the texts from people who you don't really talk to. Why? Because often they are just saying "Happy Thanksgiving" or something like that to all the people on their contact list. There's still always the option to call them.

  3. Step 3

If your phone plan allows it, pay a small fee for getting just a limited amount of texts--only if people really do text you often, especially if they're often in quiet places like a classroom.

  4. Step 4

This also saves you time because regular phone calls allow you to talk much quicker than by text. Be sure to only use your phone when you can, don't let it distract you when doing something important. If you are busy, put it on silent or vibrate.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't give in, be brave and say you're poor!
  • Also, try not to buy expensive phones in the first place--they are 1/2 the price in a year, anyways. Just upgrade to the next free phone.
  • If you think it might be an important message, don't ignore it.
  • Never get angry with someone for texting you, it's not worth the small fee to argue with a friend. Wouldn't you pay 25 cents to not fight with a friend?
