1
Scatter food grade diatomaceous earth along the ants' pathways. Diatomaceous earth is an all natural powdery substance, made from minute fossilized water plants. It can be purchased in the home gardening department or online. For an insect, the powder is sharp and cutting. Diatomaceous earth will lacerate the insect's exoskeleton and find its way into the body, where it absorbs body fluids and causes death by dehydration

2
Sprinkle dry Cream of Wheat or cornmeal around the ant hills, or along your counter-tops or other interior areas where the ants are appearing. The ants will eat the dry substance, and when they drink water it will expand and kill them.

Make your own ant poison. Blend ¼ cup of sugar, ¾ cup of water and 1 tbsp. of borax. Stir and allow mixture to sit until the sugar and borax are dissolved. Cut a bread's crusty heel into 1-inch squares. Soak a square with the liquid and place where the ants are entering the home. When the square is covered with ants, throw away and replace with a new square of saturated crust. Keep away from pets and children.
