How to Find Out the Amount of RAM You Have in Vista

The Windows Vista operating system is a resource-intensive OS that relies heavily on RAM - your PC's physical memory. You can easily look up how much RAM you have installed on your PC to find out if you need to upgrade with additional memory chips. The amount of RAM in your system will determine if an upgrade is possible or if you need to optimize Windows Vista for better overall system performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the Vista "Start" menu in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop. This will open your Start Menu.

    • 2

Right-click on "Computer." Select "Properties" from the context menu. This opens the System Properties window.

    • 3

Check the "System" section to find out how much Memory (RAM) you have installed on your PC. Close the System Properties window when finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have less than 1GB of RAM, you should seriously consider upgrading to increase your memory capacity to at least 2GB. The more memory, the better your PC's performance.
