Christmastime and homemade fudge...a tradition

What is a Christmas without homemade chocolate fudge? This recipe is simple and so delicious to make. Now, to the kitchen!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bag chocolate chips
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup Eaglebrand condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1 jar marshmallow cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 8x8 pan
  • microwave oven
  1. Step 1
Into a microwave-safe mixing bowl, melt butter...I usually time it for 2 minutes

Prepare all ingredients...meaning, open bag of chips, marshmallow cream, pour liquids, measure sugar...make sure everything is ready to go. This is VERY important because when making the perfect fudge, TIMING IS EVERYTHING! Ok, first start out by greasing bottom of aluminum pan with butter.

  2. Step 2
Any brand of chips would work, but I prefer these...

After butter is melted, pour in the sugar and condensed milk...stir and mix well. Microwave (HIGH) for EXACTLY 3 minutes, then stir. Microwave some more for another 3 minutes, then stir again. Finally, microwave for another 4 minutes and 30 seconds. The mixture should be nice and bubbly hot....be careful, this would scald you if you spill it.

  3. Step 3
You'll want to use every bit of this delicious, sticky goo.

Pour entire bag on chips in hot, bubbly sugar/butter mixture and stir, stir, stir...till all chips are melted. Add entire jar of marshmallow to this mixture also then stir like crazy! Add vanilla to the mixture while stirring (might have a friend help you).

  4. Step 4

Once the mixture begins to mix well, have your pan ready. Pour mixture into the pan QUICKLY. Don't delay the pouring action, otherwise your fudge will look lumpy...we want a nice and SMOOTH consistency. After pouring, slide a cookie sheet under pan and place fudge in a cool area to cool off. Cookie sheet keeps the fudge from cracking when you move it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have all ingredients opened and measured out prior to mixing.
  • Use a big spoon...tends to cramp less (your hand, that is)
  • Any leftover fudge, pour into an aluminum pie pan on plate
  • Top with pecans
  • Cool completely
  • Contents will be extremely hot when taken out of microwave...use oven mits
