Fear nothing
Fear nothing

Do you...fear the dark, have a fear of flying, fear of death, fear of things that go bump in the night, fear of heights or fear of intimacy? The list of fears are endless. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. This is so true. Fear is just a state of mind. Once you recognize what you are afraid of, you are on your way to overcoming that fear.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Recognize your fear.
    Recognize your fear.

The first step to overcoming your fear is to recognize what you are afraid of. Take a deep look inside of yourself and come to know your fear intimately. Once you have gotten up close and personal with your fears, and understand exactly what they are, only then can you start to overcome them.

  2. Step 2
    Fear during childhood.
    Fear during childhood.

Often fear starts with childhood. Trace back through the years and ask yourself, "When did I first start to be afraid?", once you find the root of your fear, you can then start the healing process. If you are able to find the cause of your fear, it will not be so overwhelming, it may even seem trivial now.

  3. Step 3
    Uncertainty.
    Uncertainty.

When you learn where your fear originates, it is then time to understand just how irrational that fear is. Fear is just a state of mind. It has no control over you. Fear is nothing. Once you understand what your fear is and where it comes from, it will no longer have control over your life.

  4. Step 4
    Freedom!
    Freedom!

Confront your fears. If you should find yourself in a fearful situation or afraid of anything, don't back down. This might take a while to grow accustomed to, but you will desensitize, of the fearful situation. Realize, that what you are afraid of is irrational and that you will not be harmed in anyway. Once you make yourself understand this, you are on your way to a happy, healthy and confident life.

Tips & Warnings
  • Irrational fear is harmless.
  • Listen to your instincts, if you think a situation is going to be harmful to your health or well being, listen to your instincts and distance yourself from that situation.
  • Do not confuse fear with danger! Fear won't harm you, dangerous situations will!
  • If you are in a dangerous situation, heed your fear and get out of that situation!
