How to Sell on Cafe Press

CafePress is a simple, easy to use platform for selling T-shirts, clocks, postcards, and a ton of other products with your own images and designs printed on them. Not only that, but it's free! Just register for an account and start designing.

Things You'll Need:

  • internet access
  • YOUR OWN IMAGES AND DESIGNS!
  1. Step 1

    Go to: CafePress.com and register for a free account.

  2. Step 2

    Once inside, update your profile and payee information by hovering over the "Your Shops" tab and clicking "Payee Information" from the drop-down menu. Cafepress pays by check delivered to your name and address. Be sure to request at what minimum sales total you want Cafepress to send you a check ($25, $50, $100, $250) AND your social security number or Employer ID. If you're not sure about the last two, pick the sole proprietor option and enter your social security number. Hit "Save Changes"

  3. Step 3

    You can now click the "Media Basket" tab and pick upload images from the drop-down menu. You can upload 5 images at a time. BE SURE TO USE YOUR OWN IMAGES AND DESIGNS! Anything taken off the internet (all of those free stock photos, for example) don't count. Everything you use, has to be original and created by you! Upload your images and label them, if you want. Click "Save"

  4. Step 4

    Click on the "Start Selling" option at the top of your screen. In order to start selling, you will need to create a free, basic shop. Choose "Basic Shop," enter the requested information (like your shops name), and click submit. Your shop is created!

  5. Step 5

    Click on the "Your Shops" tab, and then click on the shop name you just created. Click on the "Manage Products" option (the first option). This will take you to the CafePress menu where you can pick the product you want to use, pick the image you want to use, and how you want your product to look. Click "Add Product." You can re-size your image, put it on the front of your product, the back of your product, or both! Once done, name your product, tag it with appropriate tags, and click "Add Products." Your selections can now be viewed by the Cafepress community via a search, and are literally up for sale. You can also drive traffic to your specific shop via the URL provided by Cafepress and viewable under the "Your Shops" tab. Good Luck!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to enter your price. Go to the "Your Shops" tab. Click on the storefront you want to work with. Click "Store Settings." You should now be at "Storefront Info." At the bottom of this screen is "Default Price Markup." Decide how much of a markup you want as profit. Cafepress will charge a base price for the actual product. Your markup percentage is your profit.
  • Remember you can also print text on your products, not just pictures.
  • Be sure to drive traffic to your URL. You can also use Cafepress as a fundraiser option for your organization. Create T-shirts with your company's logo for example, buy them at the base price, and sell them at your community event.
  • Remember: Don't use images taken off the internet. Only original content created by you are allowed! Also not allowed: celebrity or commercial images, even a likeness of. However, anything political is allowed! So if you want to use a drawing of Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, go right ahead.
