When I was a little girl on Christmas Eve there was nothing more exciting than leaving Santa his cookies (and milk) in exchange for all of the presents he would leave in it's place. Christmas morning would arrive and I would go running into the living room in complete ah over the mound of brightly wrapped gifts but would quickly look for Santa's plate to make sure he enjoyed my cookies. Santa was fed, but we never thought about the Santa's reindeer. They must be hungry too. We started feeding the reindeer a few years ago after hearing one of my friends traditions. It is really fun for the kids. Just remember to pick up the reindeer food and take a bite of Santa's cookie before going to bed!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cookie for Santa
  • Glass of milk
  • Carrots for reindeer
  • Holiday cheer
  1. Step 1

On Christmas Eve place a few cookies on a plate for Santa. Let your children pick out the cookies and place them in a spot Santa won't miss, like the fireplace. If you don't have a fireplace, by the front door is also a good spot. Kids love feeding Santa!

  2. Step 2

Pour some milk into a glass or mug to accompany the cookies. We don't want Santa to be thirsty. If you are really into it try making some strawberry milk (using the syrup or powder) for Santa.

  3. Step 3

Now it is time for the reindeer. Rudolf and his friends get awful hungry carrying all those toys. Take carrots (I use baby carrots) and let your children sprinkle them on your front lawn. Tell them that the carrots need to be in one particular area, so the reindeer can eat together (this will make clean-up easier later). If you don't have carrots, use your imagination...marshmallows, bread????

  4. Step 4

Once those kiddos are fast asleep, make sure you take a few bites of the cookies, drink the milk, and retrieve those lawn carrots. You could leave a few carrots with bite marks for kicks. The kids will wake up and be very excited to see if their food was eaten. Merry Christmas!

Tips & Warnings
  • Have fun!
  • Make sure the kids are fast asleep, and won't hear the front door!
