Things You'll Need:
- Cabinet hardware.
- Oil based paint.
- Paint brush if not using spray.
- Styrofoam board
- Dust free area to work.
- Face mask.
-
Step 1
Detach and clean hardware before cleaning. You may need to scrub off any rust spots or chipping paint. If hardware is painted you do not have to take off paint that is not chipped.
-
Step 2
Secure cabinet hardware on a piece of Styrofoam to avoid movement while painting. Place in a area that is free from dust and well ventilated. You may want to use a face mask to paint if using spray paint.
-
Step 3
Apply oil based paint to cabinet hardware. Apply at least 6 coats of paints to get a nice, crisp color. More coats of paint may be needed for trickier shaped hardware or for paint colors that are lighter.
-
Step 4
Wait at least 3 hours before reattaching hardware to avoid damage to paint.
-
Step 5
