How to Find a Cute Dress for $30 or Less
There are many reasons for purchasing a new dress: work, casual events, an evening out, a wedding, a special event or a formal affair. However, you can purchase a cute dress without burning a hole in your wallet. These and other situations don't require a mega-expensive dress -- especially since you'll probably only wear it once, or at most a few times, in your life. Save money but still look fabulous by hitting up the right sources, both online and in person. You can show off your bargain without showing off the price tag.

Check for sales online and at stores. The best bargains are around December and January or June and July, which is when you will find the biggest sales. Make use of Black Friday events on the day after Thanksgiving, Fourth of July sales and other holiday-related promotions. Note that each national holiday typically features some sort of sale. That way, you may get lucky and purchase formerly expensive items at low prices. It often requires hunting and endless fittings, but you can find dresses under $30.

Hit stores which offer fashion at low prices, such as Forever 21 or H&M. These stores offer numerous dresses priced under $30 or even under $20 -- and not necessarily just those on sale. Most importantly, these stores feature items currently in style. Shop both in person and online. Other stores with reasonably priced dresses are Target, Walmart and Kmart, which actually offer fashionable clothing. But your best bet is to visit a mall and pop into several stores, even those you've never visited before, for the most and best choices. Check out American Eagle Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, Aeropostale and Old Navy.

Spend time at TJ Maxx, Burlington Coat Factory or Marshalls. These stores are huge and offer a wide selection of dresses at various prices, including discounted designer offerings. You must devote some time, since the selections are huge and require time to sort through. But you can end up with designer dresses at prices lower than $30. Department stores such as Macy's or Bloomingdale's also offer wide selections, but their prices may be higher.

Flip through fashion magazines or visit their websites. InStyle, Glamour or Lucky offer fashion advice and recommend bargain-priced options that compare to more expensive items. Glamour features an entire section online devoted to dresses, with topics such as dresses under a specific price. You can get ideas on where to purchase these or similar dresses. Keep up with shopping events and sample sales, where you can find discounted dresses as listed in magazines such as Time Out New York.

Shop online. Usually, stores offer more choices online, such as the size or color you are looking for, as compared to a store you visit in person. You can also find discounted prices online. Make sure to sign up online for newsletters, or register to receive a rewards card if such programs are offered. That way, you can be the first to know about additional discounts. Some stores offer discounts on certain days, which can help you find dresses for less than $30.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful when buying discounted items, since you may end up buying unnecessary things. Always shop reasonably and buy what you need. Buy an extra dress just in case, but avoid buying five.
