Things You'll Need:
- A positive attitude
- Layers of essential clothing (hats, gloves, mittens, boots, etc.)
- A bag for changes of clothes and shoes
-
Step 1
The first thing you'll want to do is make sure you layer, layer, layer! The best way to prepare for your trek is to wear a few layers of clothes that can be shed as needed once you get to work. If you need to be dressed in a skirt and heels for your workday, you'll want to either wear thick stockings underneath your skirt and keep a pair of heels at your desk to change into, or wear pants and change into the skirt once you get to work (along with the heels!).

Step 2
You want to remember when you're walking to work is that, depending on your job, you may need a change of clothes. Chances are that after you bundle up for your work, by the time you get to your destination you'll be a little sweaty and flushed. As I said before, keep a spare pair of shoes and slacks at your desk, if you have a place for them. Otherwise, you'll want to bring a bag with the essentials in it with you each day.

Step 3
No matter how silly you may think you look wearing that puffy green hat with the fluffy balls on top, it's worth it to keep yourself from catching pneumonia. Wear a hat, gloves, scarf, anything that will keep the wind away from your skin. There's nothing worse than daily windburn in the office.

Step 4
For women: Keep some emergency makeup at the office or in your purse. It happens too often that it starts raining on your way to work, or the wind is so fierce you've been squinting the whole way and now your eye makeup is all smudged. It puts a real damper on your self esteem for the day when you feel like you don't look good. Also, keep a comb or brush handy.

Step 5
For men: There may not be a whole lot that you need to do besides bundle up and hope for the best. But if you do wear a winter hat, you might want to keep a small comb and hair gel at the office in case you need to remedy your hat hair.
