Step 1
Choose a date within a couple of weeks of Easter. Holding the egg hunt outdoors is ideal, so you will need to choose a rain date in case of inclement weather. Mark your calender and decide who you will invite to join in on the fun.
-
Step 2
After compiling the guest list, make up invitations. They can be fancy or simple. Just remember to include the date (and rain date), time, place, and ask everyone to bring their own basket. A cute way to distribute the invitations is to print the information on colored paper, cut small enough to fit in a plastic egg, include a couple pieces of candy and hand out the eggs as the invitation.

Step 3
Purchase the eggs and egg fillers. Plan on at least 15 to 20 eggs per participant. Plastic eggs can be found many places in the spring such as thrift shops, discount stores, dollar stores, etc. Purchase the necessary number of eggs and decide what you will put inside. Some egg filler ideas include: individually wrapped candy, coins, small toys, stickers, removable tattoos, and tiny trinkets.

Step 4
Hide the eggs around your yard before guests arrive. If you have several age groups attending, divide the yard into sections. This way the big kids won't run over the little kids during the excitement. Tell everyone how many eggs they are allowed to find, and let the hunt begin! Have your camera handy because this is a perfect photo opportunity.
