Step 1
First of all, investigate whether wrapping paper can be collected for recycling by your local recycling company. Call or check the recycler's website for specific information. Some kinds of wrapping paper typically cannot be recycled: paper containing metallic or plastic flecks, other un-recyclable filler fibers, or excessive tape.
-
Step 2
If wrapping paper can be picked up for recycling at your home prepare it for pick-up. Remove most of the tape, fold the wrapping paper flat, and place it in the appropriate recycle bin.
-
Step 3
If your recycler cannot accept wrapping paper you can still reduce waste by re-using the paper. Carefully unwrap gifts and trim the paper of tears and tape. Fold the paper flat and store in a plastic storage bin. You can re-use the wrapping paper the next time you wrap a gift. Wrapping paper can also be re-used when making crafts such as greeting cards, book covers, and more.
