Make a Playroom TV and Video Game Entertainment Center with Storage

Looking for a creative and inexpensive way to organize the gaming systems in your kids' playroom? This TV and video entertainment center with storage can be built in a day and will keep everything in its place and looking great.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Unfinished cubbies
  • Paint or stain
  • Sandpaper
  • Baskets
  1. Step 1

Purchase unfinished cubbies from an arts/crafts or unfinished furniture store. This configuration uses 6 double cubbies. They were purchased at AC Moore (using a 50% coupon) for $120.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a finish. You can leave the cubbies as they are for a neutral look or you can use paint or stain. If you opt for paint or stain, first lightly sand the cubbies then apply two coats of your finish (leave ample time in between coats for drying).

  3. Step 3

Configure the entertainment center. Place three of the cubbies upright in a row so that there are 6 open cubes in front. Place the other three cubbies in a row behind the first group of cubbies so that the open cubes are facing the back. Use these cubes to store wires from the TV and gaming systems. You might want to attach the cubbies with screws from the inside of the cubes for security.

  4. Step 4

Fill each cubby with baskets and use them to organize video games, DVDs/videos, and game controllers.
