Step 1
Use a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo to begin. One of the easiest ways to find large collections of free classic literature to download in either MP3 or PDF format is to type the following keywords in the search box:
"free download classic books literature"
Three of the most popular collections available online are listed in the Resource section below. -
Step 2
Add the words "tagged PDF" to your search, especially if you are planning to read your downloaded classics on a mobile reader. Tagged PDF format allows you to use a Table of Contents to select chapters, as opposed to just scrolling page-by-page.

Add the words "audiobook or MP3" to your search if you'd prefer to download books to listen to, rather than read.

Step 4
If you'd like to find classic literature to download in a language other than English, add the language to the search box as well. While the majority of downloads available are in English (either written or audio), you can find some of the classics in Spanish, Italian and German.

Step 5
In most cases, to download your books or audio files, right-click on the selected link and choose 'Save Target As'.
