How to Make your Family Closer through Prayer
There is a saying that a family that prays together stays together. I find family prayer to be a great way of bringing the family together. It is a great way to open to discussion matters of concern that can be prayed about.

Praying as a family can make your family stronger and closer. It is a special time when you stop everything and come together for the same purpose, which is to get closer to God.

Set a time every day that the family can come together to pray. Don't make prayer time all spooky and religious. Praying is just talking to God.

Have everyone take a turn reading their favorite scripture. For the very little one's who can't read they can sing a little song they might have learn in church, like, "Jesus Love Me."

Let everyone discuss what is going on at work, school or play and present any issues that they desire to pray about. Prayer is very serious to children as they have great faith that God will answer their prayers.

Now each person will take a turn praying for each family member.

During this time of prayer with your family, make sure that you pray for others as well; such as neighbors, teachers, bosses, the President, etc.

I will have random prayers with my kids present. Improptu, sporatic, sometimes formal...."OK LET'S PRAY for my friend who lost her son" "OK bow heads, let's say a quick prayer before this meal" out at a restaurant; or when an ambulance with its sirens blaring passes, I will encourage my kids to pray for the people inside the vehicle. It's free, easy, and blesses all.
