Things You'll Need:
- Big, plastic flower pot
- Acrylic gloss paint
-
Step 1
This is a great gift for Grandparents. Get one of those big, plastic planters. Have your kids dip their hands in glossy acrylic paint,(the gloss helps it stay on for outdoor use) and put their hand-prints on the pot!
They can sign their names, or you can embellish it by printing out a few pictures of them and decompauging them on the pot too! Then, fill the pot with gardening tools and supplies (most can be found at the dollar store like gardening gloves, seeds, tools etc...). -
Step 2
The next gift is a personalized picture frame. You can find inexpensive frames at Walmart and various dollar stores. I did this one year using the names of my parent's pets. Use stickers, sharpies, a wood-burner or whatever creative way you want to add the names to the picture frame. I did the names on all four sides. You can also put a picture of the kids in it and add their names! We are a big animal loving family, so the pet names went over big!

Step 3
The next gift is for the man or new teen driver in the family. Get a bucket and fill it with car wash, an inexpensive flashlight, Windex wipes, a shammy or sponge and an air freshener. Wrap the bucket in an inexpensive towel (to use for drying off the car) and tie it using a bungee cord or two. You never know when they might have to tie something down!

Step 4
We all have had to let some little luxuries go with the way the economy is, so why not get a basket and fill it with your loved one's favorite treats? Last year, I did a basket for my mother and filled it with licorice, M&M's, pistachio's, swedish fish, a nice candle and the new O magazine. For a man, you can do the same thing except use a Golf or Sports Illustrated magazine. Throw in a pair of slippers and you have a great gift!

Step 5
The best gifts don't have to cost you hundreds of dollars. All it takes is taking a few moments to consider what really makes your family or friends happy. Although many people are upset at not being able to have the type of Christmas they may have been able to afford in the past, perhaps the best thing about this recession is re-discovering the true meaning of Christmas.
