How to Decorate a Christmas Tree With Country Decor

There are so many ways that you can decorate your Christmas tree. Some people put up childhood memories, while others add ornaments that remind them of trips they've taken. Of course those with an eye for interior design know that decorating your tree with the same decor that you have in your house will make it blend nicely in your homes' atmosphere. If you have your house decorated with country items, you can easily decorate your tree the same. You can even use items found in nature to save a little money.

Things You'll Need

• Christmas tree
• Painted wooden bead garland
• Pine cones
• Cookie cutters
• Twine
• Scraps of country fabric
• Plain fabric
• Stuffing
• Scissors
• Thread
• Needle

Instructions

1. Purchase garland made of painted wooden beads strung tightly together. Country shops and even places like Target sell them in the country decor aisle. Visit the Target website to order the garland online. Once you have it, wrap it around the Christmas tree, leaving plenty of space in between the rows for other decorations.

2. Place pine cones in the stems of the tree branches. Vary their placement and don't over do it. You can purchase pine cones from the craft store or pick them up out of your own yard if you have pine trees.

3. Add tin cookie cutters in varying sizes and shapes. Consider a snowman or an angel. Loop twine through the cookie cutter and hang it on the tree.

4. Purchase fabrics in country designs or plaid and rip it into thin strips. Create medium sized bows and adhere them to the tree with an ornament hook or twine.

5. Buy clusters of berries and push them in between the tree branches. Head to your nearest craft store to find the berries in the floral department or cut your own stems of fresh winterberry from your own backyard.

6. Buy rusty tin items like a mini-muffin pan, stars or gingerbread men from a country store or online at websites like the Rustic Country Cottage.

7. Cut, stuff and hand sew your own ornaments. Craft stores sell patterns for you to follow or you can cut them free hand. Of course if you don't have the time to sew, many country stores sell items that look like there were handmade.
