Things You'll Need:
- Photoshop program
- Creative mind

Step 1
Open your photoshop program. I use photoshop 7 myself. Click on "File" at the top left corner and click "New". Choose the canvas size you would like to work with. I use 8x10 inches with a 300 pixels/inch. Click O.K. Your canvas will now appear on your photoshop screen.
-
Step 2
You can rotate your canvas (If you would like) by clicking on "Image" at the top of the screen and choose "rotate 90 degrees". Your canvas is now 8" in height, 10" width and 300 pixels per inch.
-
Step 3
Using your toolbox on the left, click on the square tool at the top left. Some of these tools can be changed by right clicking on them and choosing a different tool. For example the square tool can also be changed to a circle tool.
-
Step 4
Place your curser on the canvas and hold and drag your mouse to create a square (or circle) shape on your canvas. Click on "Layer" at the top of the screen and choose "New fill layer". Choose "solid color" for now until you get better with creating designs. Choose a color and click O.K. Your image will now be filled with that color.
-
Step 5
Continue creating shapes on your canvas ie; squares, circles, etc. You may also overlap shapes as you go. Once your canvas is filled with different shapes and colors, choose the "Layer" tab at the top of the screen again and choose "Flatten the image".
-
Step 6
You are now ready to become a real artist! Choose the "Filter" tab at the top of the screen. Highlight "Artistic" and choose "Poster edges". Click O.K. Your design will change dramatically. The "Filters" options are fun to play with.....be creative!
-
Step 7
If you make a mistake or want to erase your last change, you can do this by clicking on "Edit" at the top of the screen and choose "step backward". The more time you spend experimenting, the better you will become.
-
Step 8
Remember to "Save" your creation in a documents folder in your computer. This can be done by clicking "File" at the top of the screen and choose "Save as". Name your image and be sure it is in the "Jpeg" format and click O.K. Your image can now be found in your "My documents" file. HAVE FUN!!
