Step 1
You may not have much control over your driving if you're a commuter but you can cut down on extra trips. Try to find coworkers that live close to you and start a carpool.
-
Step 2
If you have to drive kids around to many activities try to trade off driving duties with some of the other parents. Kids that are old enough to drive can take their younger siblings to their after school activities if you think they are mature enough.
-
Step 3
Try to keep your shopping trips down to 1 or 2 a week. This helps by saving on gas and on the upkeep of your car. A bonus of this step is it will also help you get more organized so you can spend less on groceries.
-
Step 4
Instead of taking long road trips for your vacations try taking a a few shorter weekend trips each year. Take the kids to visit local attractions they may have missed rather than going to expensive amusement parks far from home.
