  1. Step 1

Once you pick out your perfect tree and get it home, and ready to set up in your tree stand. You should cut a slice off the bottom of the tree trunk apx. a 1/2 inch before setting in tree stand. Cutting it allows water to be used by the tree itself and sustains life longer which helps in needle loss.

  2. Step 2

Place the tree in the stand and make it erect. Make sure it is safely staying in the stand and not easily pushed over, making sure your christmas tree is stable in the stand. Add water to the stand bowl as soon as possible. ***keep your Christmas tree watered at all times. It should be above the base of the tree, to be sure it is getting plenty of water at all times.

  3. Step 3

on 10/5/2009 I agree, cutting an inch off the base of the tree is a good tip - I do this then soak in a bucket of water the night before putting up the christmas tree. www.delivermeachristmastree.com
