A jungle theme is one of the more popular choices that people make for a room in their house. Incorporating leopard, zebra and other wild prints helps to carry the theme throughout the room. One way to utilize zebra print in a jungle themed room is by painting the walls..

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sandpaper
  • White paint
  • White primer
  • Black paint
  • Roller
  • Stiff paintbrush
  • Zebra stencil
  • Masking tape
  • Drop cloth
  • Tape measure
  • Level
  1. Step 1

Prep the area for painting by laying down a drop cloth and taping off the bottom of the wall and around any outlets, windows or doors. Then sand the wall.

  2. Step 2

Prime the wall white and allow it to dry completely. Repeat this step as many times as necessary to cover the pre-existing color.

  3. Step 3

Find the center of your wall with your tape measure and mark this point.

  4. Step 4

Center your stencil on the center point of your wall, and tape it to the wall so that it is level.

  5. Step 5

Tap the black paint through the stencil with your stiff paintbrush.

  6. Step 6

Carefully peel the stencil from the wall and allow the first stencil to dry.

  7. Step 7

Line up the stencil with the first stenciled painting on one side, tape into place and repeat the previous two steps. Continue to do this in all directions until your wall is covered in zebra stripes.

Tips & Warnings
  • A zebra striped stencil can be found at Designer Stencils (see Resources below). Take your time when lining up your stencil with the previous stenciled stripes to keep the paint job looking professional. A small paintbrush, such as the kind that you would find at an art store, can be used to make any necessary touch-ups to the black stripes.
