How to De-stink Your Sink Drain The Green Way

Why use harsh chemicals in your sink drains to get rid of the stink when you can use the easiest and safest way to de-stink your sink using everyday household items? Not only will it take care of the stink in the drain, it dissolves and flushes that black muck that lives down there, and strips the muck off of the sides as it goes down the drain.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Cleaning Toothbrush
  • Baking Soda
  • White Distilled Vinegar

    Remove any hair or items that may be in the top of the drain. I know, disgusting, but it's got to get done!

    Dump approximately 1/4 cup of baking soda into the drain in the sink basin. Make sure you have some around the top rim of the drain. If you're not sure you put in enough, it won't hurt to add more.

    Gradually pour enough vinegar into the drain to get a good reaction. There will be a chemical reaction similar to those science fair projects of volcano eruptions. The foam is good, it means it's working.

    Use your toothbrush and scrub what you can see along the top and inside of the drain.

    Rinse thoroughly with water.

  • Repeating these steps on a regular basis will work best for your drains.
