Things You'll Need:
- Photoshop CS2 or Above
- Basic knowledge of photoshop.
- Intermediate understanding of curves in photography.

Step 1
Image that will be applied with Orton.First find a picture. I find that the Orton effect should be reserved for landscape and still life photography and does not work well with portrait photography.

Background layer duplicated.Start by duplicating the background layer. You can name this layer anything you want that will help you keep track of your layers.

Second layer duplicated and blending mode set to screen.Duplicate the second layer. Renaming is not necessary. Set the blending mode to "Screen".

Step 4
Merging the screened layer.With the screened layer selected, navigate to the top toolbar and click Layer > Merge Down. This will merge the screened layer.

Second layer duplicated.Duplicate the second layer again and rename it to something you will be able to keep track of.

Applying Gaussian Blur to the photograph.With the new layer selected, navigate to the top toolbar and click Filter > Blue > Gaussian Blur. Set the radius to a number that the overall shape of the photo is visible but details are not. Hit "OK".

Blend mode set to Multiply.With the blurred layer selected, set the blend mode to "Multiply".

Adjusting curves.With your second layer selected, navigate to the toolbar and select Image > Adjustments > Curves. Set your curves to your liking and when your are satisfied with the end result, navigate to the toolbar and select Layer > Flatten Image and then save your completed photo.
