Things You'll Need:
- velvet, silk, moire fabrics
- embroidery thread
- plain fabric
- ribbon
-
Step 1
Assemble the fabric and ribbons. Lay them out in different ways to see what combinations appeal to you.
-
Step 2
Cut a plain piece of fabric into a stocking shape to stitch the crazy quilt pieces to. Make it one inch larger than the finished stocking will be.
-
Step 3
Machine stitch the fabrics to the plain piece. Hand-stitching works also.
-
Step 4
Dress up the crazy quilt with embroidery stitches connecting the pieces. You can use a favorite stitch or try out a variety. See the links below for sample stitches to use.
-
Step 5
Add on some lace pieces for extra dimension. Make use of any scrap materials you have.
-
Step 6
Cut a plain piece for the back (same size and shape as the front piece).
-
Step 7
Pin the two pieces together, with the quilted pieces facing inside. Sew around the edge with a 1/2 inch seam.
-
Step 8
Turn it inside out, so the quilted side is now outside.
-
Step 9
Add a ribbon loop at the top to hang it by. Cover the base of the ribbon with a decorative bow.
