Step 1
The first thing I would suggest doing is to delete any cookies or saved web pages that your computer could be storing. Simply click on Tools in your internet browser and scroll down to internet options. Click the delete button in the section called browsing history and click for deleting all offline content.

Step 2
Another reason that computers take a while to boot up is that they are too overloaded with files and programs that are opened upon start-up. Look down in the right corner of your screen next to the time. If you see lots of icons for programs that you aren't using, it may be a good idea to tell some of them not to open when you boot up your computer. Simply open each and find the properties area. There should be a checkbox saying something like "Open when Windows opens." If you can do without the program, make sure it doesn't start up until you need it.

Step 3
Check your hard drive to make sure it is not full or nearly full. I suggest having around 20-30% of your HD free at all times. Go through your files like music and photos and decide if you really need all of them. These types of files take up a huge amount of space, and can make your computer really slow.
