Mint is used in many different drinks. This particular combination has been around since the 1800's.

James Monroe was the fourth president of the United States. He is credited with developing this drink.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ Cup of Water
  • 1 Cup of Orange Juice
  • ½ Cup of Lime Juice
  • 1 Cup of Grape Juice
  • 1/3 Cup of Sugar
  • ½ Cup of Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Ice
  • Strainer
  • Pitcher
  • Sauce Pan
  • Spoon
  1. Step 1

Heat the water to where you see it start to boil and then remove the pan from the heat. Carefully add the sugar. The water is hot so be careful not to cause a splash. Also add most of the mint leaves. Set aside some of the mint leaves.

  2. Step 2

Stir constantly to make sure that the sugar is completely dissolved. Let this cool.

  3. Step 3

After it has cooled then use the strainer to remove the mint leaves. The straining can be done over the pitcher.

  4. Step 4

Add all of the juice, orange, lime and grape. Stir until thoroughly mixed and then place in the refrigerator.

  5. Step 5

Fill glasses with ice and pour in the punch. This makes about 6 servings with each being 4 ounces.

Tips & Warnings
  • Chill the glasses beforehand to get a 'frosted' look.
  • Add mint leaves as a garnish.
