Need a quick frosting recipe? Tired of the extremely sweet buttercream frostings? This is a great recipe that takes only a few minutes to make. It's rich, but not overly sweet. Great for yellow cakes!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Rubber Spatula
  1. Step 1

    Gather Ingredients:
    - One (1) 12oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips (recommend quality chocolate like Ghirardelli or Guittard; not Heshey's as it has a waxy taste)
    - One (1) 16oz container sour cream (bring to room temperature)

  2. Step 2

Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in microwave until chocolate chips are melted. Check every 30 seconds to 1 minute to make sure they do not burn. Stir occasionally to check consistency.

  3. Step 3

Once chocolate chips have melted remove from microwave and stir in sour cream until well blended. Frost any cake or cupcakes. One of my favorite types of cakes to use this frosting for is a two layer yellow cake with raspberry jam in the middle. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure sour cream is not cold, it will cause lumps in the frosting.
