If you've ever wondered how to write an SEO article, you first need to understand the theories about how search engines work. Search engine optimization, also called SEO, is about getting your work recognized by search engines and getting those search engines to rank your work higher than the work by other people who are writing about the same topics. It's a search engine marketing solution that is inexpensive and incredibly effective.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out your best keywords for your article. To do this, you need to think of a few terms that can be used to describe exactly what it is you are talking about. These need to be words or phrases that people will be searching for when they look for your information online. If you are writing about a topic but using obscure words to do so, no one will find it. Instead, go to a site like WordTracker and find out what words related to your topic that people are actually searching for.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a keyword density. The keyword density is exactly how often, expressed as a percentage, your keywords are showing up in your work. If you are trying to write an SEO article that is 400 words long but you use your keyword only twice, you have a .05 percent keyword density. This makes it harder for your SEO article to be found. To be more effective, sprinkle that keyword into the article several more times. Most SEO writers strive for at least a 2 percent keyword density for each of their keywords.

  3. Step 3

Break up your article into smaller sections. This gives you the opportunity to organize your article with subheadings. These subheadings are opportunities to place keywords in important locations, but they also keep your content easy to read for your readers.

  4. Step 4

Make sure your keywords are in the headline of your article, in the first paragraph and in the subheadings as well as sprinkled elsewhere throughout your SEO article. Website search engine optimization generally places importance on the placement of the keywords.

  5. Step 5

Use meta tags. These are tags that speak to the search engine and tell it what the page is about in order for easier categorizing of websites. All website search engine optimization campaigns should make use of meta tags. Some search engines place more of an importance on them than others, but every page should have them.
