Things You'll Need:
- Stationary
- Pen
-
Step 1
Start with some pretty stationary or thank-you cards. Never email a thank you note or send out one that has been typed. Thank you notes should always be written out and mailed via snail mail.
-
Step 2
Begin the note by thanking the person formally for the gift. be sure to mention exactly what the gift was. Don't cheat by writing thank you notes to everyone, thanking them for their "gift."
-
Step 3
Mention what you will use the gift for, why you are glad to have it or what you plan to do with it. This is the personal part of the note that shows them that their gift was appreciated by you.
-
Step 4
Thank the person again. Mention in the last line again how grateful you are for the gift.
-
Step 5
Close the letter with an end greeting and sign your name. The greeting you choose will depend on your relationship with the person or the lack thereof. A good, safe end greeting is "sincerely."

on 12/27/2008 Dear SDKP,
Thank you so much for writing this timely article on thank you notes, since many are due for the Christmas presents we've received. I left my pretty stationery in my other pants. I will send this lovely, well written article to my ungrateful grandsons who couldn't write a thank you note if it were required to start their xbox, in the hopes that they will get the hint and thank me for some of the gifts I gave them.
Sincerely, Jama
