This article will teach you how to start saving money, even when you think you cannot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Jar, plastic container or water jug.
  1. Step 1

The first step will be to find a plastic jug or container. The bigger the better. At my house we use a larger culligan water jug, the kind you see at Dr's office.

  2. Step 2

Once you have found the perfect container, place it near the main entrance of your home. Don't place it near the front door if that is not your main entry way. Choose the door that you enter through the most frequently. For example this might be the door from the garage into the house. In this case you can place the jug in the garage.

  3. Step 3

Make a habit of throwing all your lose change in the jug every time you come home. Once you have filled the jug, roll the change and deposit into your account. You will be amazed at how much change you had been discarding. Be sure to get your kids motivated, by allowing them to find coins and throwing them into the jug. Kids can find coins just about anywhere. Some families have special assignments for their jugs. Such as; vacation, new car, college, kitchen remodel, etc. So set up your jug and start saving!

Tips & Warnings
  • The larger the jug the better.
  • Don't forget to throw in your coins, every time you come in the house.
  • Label your jug with your specific goal.
  • Keep from borrowing from the jug. Once you do this once time, it will become a dirty habit.
