Things You'll Need:
- A positive attitude
-
Step 1
Make Friends At Work: Some people find that having a friend at work makes going to work much more enjoyable. Well, maybe just bearable for some! If stress at work is getting to you, or you simply want company for a coffee break, a work friend can be a great way to make your work environment, and you a lot happier.
-
Step 2
Personalize Your Desk or Workspace: You’ll be a lot happier to spend hours at your desk if it’s a pleasant place to be. Put up some pictures of friends and family. If you don't prefer pictures, get some nice desk accessories to spruce it up. Be sure to stay within office rules and policies. Also, keep with the overall office environment and don't clutter your desk.
-
Step 3
Get Rid of the Candy Dish: Sure, your co-workers and customers love visiting your desk, but keeping treats on your desk can be a quick way to sabotage what might otherwise be a healthy diet. If you're not careful, a handful of candy each day will add up over time.
-
Step 4
Clean that Desk: A chaotic desk can make completing even the simplest tasks an ordeal. You may think it shows how busy you are and how much work you accomplish when it actually shows how disorganized you are and takes up more of your time. Take a few minutes each day to tidy up papers on your desk. It will help you work more efficiently and reduce the amount of time you spend looking for those important documents.
-
Step 5
Personal Time is Personal Time: It can be hard to balance work and personal time. To be a happy and healthy person you need time to yourself without the worry of work. Schedule times when you will be completely work free - no e-mail, cell phone or PDA and do something for yourself. Time with family is purely time with family. Eventually, your co-workers and boss will get the picture.
