Step 1
Download a Sega Genesis Emulator. The Emulator Zone (listed in the Resources section) lists a variety of sites that offer Emulator downloads. Look for one that's marked "Sega Genesis Emulator" and click "Download." This is like a Sega Genesis console for your computer. It lets you play Sega games directly from your computer or laptop.
-
Step 2
Download the Sega game you want to play. Sites that have multiple games for download are hard to come across. An easier method is to search for "Download.....for the Sega Genesis" and insert the name of the game you want in the place of ".....". Most of the results you receive will give you the option to download the game.
-
Step 3
Open the Sega Genesis Emulator you downloaded. If you get a message saying it has to be extracted or unzipped, click "OK." You can also right-click on the Emulator icon on your desktop and then click "Extract" or "Unzip" from the menu that opens. A Setup Wizard will walk you through the process.
-
Step 4
Once the Emulator loads, click "File" and "Open ROM." This should bring up a list of files that can work with this program. If you don't see your game, click on the location you saved it to, such as the desktop. Then click on the game icon when you find it.
-
Step 5
Close the Emulator if you can't find your game and right-click on the game icon itself. Choose to extract or unzip the file. Once it has finished, a folder should open containing a list of files. Look for an icon that's marked "Gen" and has a picture of a "G" beside it. Click on this. When it opens in a new window, click "File." A menu should open with a picture of the game. Click the game to start playing.
