Things You'll Need:
- Silk flowers
- Straws
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Craft string or elastic

Step 1
Silk petalsYou can purchase silk flowers at most craft stores and some department stores. Choose the colors and styles that you desire to make up your lei. Pull the little stem toppers that hold the petals on the stem off. This will free your petals off of the stems. Gather all of the silk flowers that you chose for making your silk lei. You can color coordinate with any theme or just use random colors and types of silk flowers.

Use straws of your choiceYou may use any size and any color straws that will enhance the silk flowers that you chose for your lei.

Cut into 1With scissors, cut the straws into 1" segments.

Thread needleThread the tapestry needle or any needle with a large eye, using the string or elastic. Cut the string or elastic 3 inches longer than you want your silk lei to be.

Step 5
Add two silk flowersTie a knot on the opposite end of the string or elastic about 1 inch from the end. Using the needle, add two silk flower petals to your string or elastic.

Step 6
Add straw segmentUsing the needle, add a straw segment to your silk flower lei.

Add two more silk petalsAdd two more silk flower petals to your silk flower lei.

Step 8
Continue till completeContinue this process until your silk flower lei is the length that you desire it to be. Remove the needle and tie the two ends together. Trim the ends of the sting or elastic.

Step 9
Silk flower lei and head pieceNow you have your beautiful silk flower lei. You can also create a matching silk flower head piece. You must use elastic when making the head piece so that it will be easy to fit and stay on your head. That will look beautiful.
