How to Make a Glowing Outline in Photoshop

Today we are going to create glowing edges around an object and text using Photoshop CS4. The method is the same for earlier versions of Photoshop also.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Photoshop

1. 
   Image with text and a design

   Open Photoshop and open or create the image you want to add the glowing edges to. In this example I have text and an image.

2. 
   Layer Styles box

   Select the top text layer and double click to show the "Layer Style" box.

3. 

   Select the check box next to "Outer Glow" and click OK. Don't worry about any of the settings as we will go back and adjust things.

4. 

   Now let's adjust a few things to get a good looking glow. Double click on the "outter glow" tab under "Effects" in the layers. This will open the styles box again.

5. 

   Now let's make a couple of adjustments. In the Elements section change to "Precise" with the drop down menu and use the sliders for Spread and Size. I set mine to: Spread-57 Size-54. You can try different settings to acheive the look you want. Use the same method for the other text section and the graphic.
