Things You'll Need:

  • Lots of Patience and Love.
  1. Step 1

Make sure all of the baby's basic needs are met. Is he hungry? Tired? Wet? Rule out of the obvious issues before continuing.

  2. Step 2

If weather permits, start with a nice walk around the block. Babies love fresh air, and may need a change in atmosphere and surroundings every so often.

  3. Step 3

Let your baby explore his smell sense. Dab a small amount of a friendly smelling item on your hand and bring it up to the baby's nose to smell. Do NOT let the baby eat it! Also be cautious of powers and spices that could easily be breathed in by the baby. Try mom's perfume, cinnamon, your favorite lotion, etc.

  4. Step 4

Try some light bouncing on your lap. Let him practice using those legs of his!

  5. Step 5

Let your baby roll around on a blanket on the floor. Maybe he is tired of being held all the time. Get some baby toys out and play with your baby.

  6. Step 6

If your baby can support his head well, try placing him on your knees. Lie on the floor, on your back with your knees risen. Place baby tummy down and move your knees up and down gently.

  7. Step 7

Babies love surprises! Now is a great time for peek-a-boo and other varieties!
