Step 1
Make small goals for your child like learning first 1-5. Then learn 1-10. Then 1-20. Make sure it's age appropriate. Your 2 year old shouldn't be expected to know how to count to 100.
-
Step 2
Go to the library to find some books on counting. Read to your child 3x's a day about counting. Count each one with your child and have them count along with you.
-
Step 3
Go to a learning store and buy some counting games. An abacus (as pictured) is an excellent thing to help with counting and used later on to help with addition and subtraction for your child.
-
Step 4
Include counting throughout your day with your child. Have them count all different things. When walking down the stairs count and have them repeat it. The more your child counts, the more they will understand what counting is. It will click.
