Step 1
Purchase at least three good books on colors. Colors and shapes are great too, so that when it's time to teach shapes they will learn them too.
TIP: The library is a great place if you don't want to purchase them! -
Step 2
Read to your child 3x's a day the new books, and point to each color and tell them what color it is, and then point to something in the room that is the same color. Have them repeat it.

Step 3
Throughout your day with them, point to all different things and ask them what color it is. Help them. Even if they seem to just not be getting it, they will. Keep doing it. Repetition and consistency is key

Step 4
Work on crafts with your child and keep doing things with the different colors. Ask them to hand you a red piece of paper, or a red crayon. Again it's about repetition and also about making it fun.
