Grilled Ham And Cheese

A great guide to making a delicious grilled ham and cheese sandwich

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frying Pan (preferably non-stick)
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Bread
  • Butter
  • Ham
  • Cheese
  1. Step 1

Food Prep: Place a slice of bread on your plate and place a slice of cheese on it. Then place a few slices of ham on top of the cheese (depending on thickness) and place another slice of cheese on top of that. Finally place another slice of bread on top of that. You should now have what looks like a standard ham and cheese sandwich. By placing the pieces of cheese between the bread and the ham, when the cheese melts, it will hold the entire sandwich together.

  2. Step 2

Place your frying pan on the stove on medium heat. Put a small slice of butter into the frying pan and let it sizzle for a few seconds.

  3. Step 3

Place your sandwich in the frying pan and place a lid over the sandwich. The lid will help keep the heat in and melt the cheese better without burning your bread. Allow the first side of the sandwich to cook to your preferred darkness by checking it periodically.

  4. Step 4

Once the first side has reached your preferred darkness, take your spatula and lift the sandwich out of the pan. Place another slice of butter in the pan, flip the sandwich over, and place it back into the pan. Place the lid back on the pan as well.

  5. Step 5

Allow the second side of the sandwich to cook to your preferred darkness by checking it periodically again. Once it has finished, turn off your stove and place the sandwich on the plate.

  6. Step 6

Cut your sandwich in half and enjoy! Be sure to cut it diagonally because it tastes better that way.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using wheat bread will make your sandwich have a nicer color and a crisper texture. It is also a healthier alternative to white bread.
  • If you have the time, try frying your ham before step 1. This will help enhance the flavor a bit and will give your sandwich a more even cook.
