Start Saving Money Today

Today's economy makes saving money a very important thing to do! There are manys simple ways to start saving money today. These steps are easy, and you can quickly be on your way to cutting back costs in your daily life.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Coin Jar or Piggy Bank
  • Coupons
  • Bank of America Account
  • Cash
  • Coin rollers
  1. Step 1

The first step to saving money is to start paying for your purchases in cash. Studies have shown that people who use cash to pay for purchases spend less money to those who constantly use credit cards.

  2. Step 2

Put the coin change that you have left from your cash purchases into a coin jar or piggy bank. Once you have accumulated a substantial amount of coins roll your coins. Take your rolled coins to the bank, and ask the bank cashier for cash. Rolling your coins will save you the fee that coin counting machines charge.

  3. Step 3

Use coupons! I can not emphasis enough how much money you can save by using coupons. Coupons can be found everywhere. Look in your mail, look online, look on the back of your receipts, and look on store ads for coupons.

  4. Step 4

If you bank at Bank of America sign up for the Keep the Change program. A percentage of every debit card purchase you make will go into your savings account. This program is free, and soon you will see your savings account grow.

  5. Step 5

Every month set aside money and put it in your savings account. Do not worry about how much you put in your savings account. If you can put in $100 dollars a month that is great. If you can only put $5 in each month that is great as well. Just get into the habit of saving your money for a rainy day!

  6. Step 6

Shop at thrift stores. You can find a lot of good bargains on clothes and household needs at your local resale and thrift stores.
