Things You'll Need:
- Your time
-
Step 1
DIAPER BAG The first thing you need to do is pick a diaper bag or two. I have a small diaper bag ready for quick trips and a large diaper bag for longer trips prepared and ready to go at all times. You never know when you have to pick up and go on a moments notice.
-
Step 2
DIAPERS For short trips, have 2 - 4 diapers packed. For an all day trip have 4 - 8 diapers packed. Rule of thumb, you will want at least one diaper for every two hours that you plan to be out.
-
Step 3
WIPES, LOTION AND DIAPER CREAM Carry a travel wipe case, travel size bottle of baby lotion, and diaper rash cream.
-
Step 4
BABY BLANKET AND AN EXTRA OUTFIT You never know when your little one will spit up or have a little accident. Always carry an extra shirt and pair of pants in your diaper bag.
-
Step 5
BURP CLOTH, PACIFIER, BIB, DIAPER CHANGING PAD, AND WET BAG Pack other needs such as a burp cloth, pacifier, bib, and any other items that your baby will need.
-
Step 6
BOTTLES AND FORMULA Depending on the kind of formula you use, this is something that you may want to wait to pack until right before you leave.
-
Step 7
BABY FOOD AND SPOONS If your baby is already eating baby food, put a few jars along with some spoons in your diaper bag. If your little one is eating finger foods, be sure to pack some finger foods for baby.
-
Step 8
TOYS, TEETHING RINGS, AND BABY BOOKS It's always great to pack some small baby toys, teething rings, and durable baby books to keep your little one entertained.
-
Step 9
DISPOSABLE CAMERA You never know when you are going to catch a Kodak moment. Keep a disposable camera in your diaper bag.

on 4/8/2009 It's good to have a spare, as you state here, ready to go on impromptu jaunts. Don't forget to replenish when you get home!!!
