How to Find the Right Jeans For Your Body Type
Just because your body fits into a pair of jeans does not mean that the jeans fit your body. The style of the jean could be completely wrong for your body type. A mismatched jean style and body type can make women look dumpy, short, hippy, fat, thick, and flat-bottomed just to name a few. Finding the right jean for your body type can make you look your best and can help you hide the not-so-great aspects of your figure.

Determine your body type. Be honest and critical. Determine where you carry weight and how your body is shaped.

2
Try a classic style for hourglass body types. Select jeans that have wide-legs or a trouser cut. The stride should be mid-rise. This body type is balanced and should have attention called to the small waist. Avoid selecting jeans that are too tight or too baggy. You want to see the shape of an hourglass figure. Do not select jeans with flap pockets.

Look for a flared or boot cut for a pear-shaped figure. Tapered cuts call attention to the hips and cause the shape to look disproportioned. The jeans should graze the hips, not cling the hips. A low-rise jean works better on pear-shaped women because it makes your hips and rear look shorter and the torso look longer providing more balance to the shape. Shop for a jean that fits throughout the hips and the waist. Do not wear capris as it makes you look stubby. Stay away from jeans with flap pockets, embellishment on the pockets or on the hips.

Select dark denim for plus-size figures. The darker rinse will instantly slim your figure. A jean that fits your waist and relaxes around the hips and thighs works best. Diagonal or slash side pockets slim the hip area. A straight-legged jean slims the plus size figure. Avoid tapered fits. High-rise jeans make your bottom look extremely large; stick to a mid-rise. Pleated jeans widen your hips and legs.

Try a straight or a boyfriend cut for a boy-shaped body. . The straight cut minimizes extra fabric, which causes the silhouette to look heavier. Boy shapes can also wear flared leg jeans as they create some curve to the figure. Mid-rise is a good stride for a boy figure. Avoid baggy jeans as they can look extremely masculine.

Shop for slim cut jeans if you have a petite figure. "Skinny" jeans are a good choice for petites as they do not have a lot of fabric to weigh the body down. Petites should select a solid color jean and wear it with a pair of heels. This will elongate the body. The jeans should cover most of the heel but should not touch or drag the ground. Avoid cuffed styles that tend to cut your shape off and cause you to look shorter.
