Tunisian crochet is a nice, tight knit stitch, and the chevron or ripple pattern will really help give it that extra touch. The ripple in tunisian is basically the same as done in regular crochet, with increases and decreases forming the arches, but is worked with a long tunisian hook and without ever turning. The following pattern will guide you in making a steady ripple, but once you get the hang of it you can change it around to make ripples bigger or smaller to suite your own needs.
To begin, chain in multiples of fourteen to desired length, plus chain one. Insert hook into back loop of second chain from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop. * Insert hook into back loop of next chain space, yarn over and pull through. Repeat from * to end, keeping all loops on hook.
Working backwards [without turning] yarn over and pull through on loop on hook. * Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook.

Yarn over and pull back through three loops on hook [decrease made]. Pull up a loop from each of the next five vertical bars. Pull up a loop from the next horizontal bar [the one between hook and next vertical bar] and pull up a loop from next vertical bar [increase made].
Working backwards [without turning] yarn over and pull through on loop on hook. * Yarn over and pull through two loops on hook. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook. Repeat from Step Three for Pattern...
