Step 1
Talk to your friends. If you're playing tennis, your friends are playing tennis. Talk to them about what teams they are on and who has openings. Get the phone numbers of team captains and don't be afraid to "cold call" them.
-
Step 2
Talk to your coach. Your tennis coach should know on what teams each of his students is playing. He or she can help you find those teams looking for players. And, because your coach is familiar with your level of play, he or she can help you find a team where you will feel most comfortable. Again, get phone numbers and make calls.
-
Step 3
Talk to the Tennis Director of your club. If you belong to a tennis club, your Tennis Director will know what teams are playing out of the club and who the captains are. He or she can help you find a team that is right for you.
-
Step 4
Play a lot of tennis. Get out and play in mixers, tournaments, drills and clinics. Talk to people with whom you're playing to find out what teams they play for and whether any of them have openings.
-
Step 5
Become a sub for a team. This is the best way to get on a team. By subbing for a tennis team, you can not only show off your tennis skills, but you will be sure to be one of the first who knows about and is considered for an open spot on the team.
