The best gifts are those that will be used often, and improve quality of life in one way or another. I propose that one of the best gifts for someone in the construction industry is a nice tool belt. A tool belt not only helps them in their job, but it can also provide comfort and convenience. If a tool belt is not appropriate then maybe a tool carrier is.

Things You'll Need:

  • A Significant Other with Tools
  • A reason to buy a gift
  1. Step 1

The first step is to determine what will work best. There are several different types of tool belts available depending on specialty. Carpenters, electricians, drywallers, etc all use different tools hence they need different pouches on their belts.

  2. Step 2

Determine your budget. Cheap tool belt combos are easily had for under a $50. However, often times these belts are not built to last and do not provide comfort or support. Unless you are trying to get revenge for that cheap diamond you got it is worth investing in a good tool belt rig.

  3. Step 3

Once you have determined your budget decide if leather or nylon is better. Leather is more traditional; however, nylon belts and bags are lighter and do not need special care.

  4. Step 4

Shop around. There are a lot of places to buy your belt so shop around. Do not be afraid of going to contractor supply stores such as CED, often times professional equipment cannot be found at Lowe's or Home Depot.

  5. Step 5

If your significant other doesn't need to carry their tools on them all day then perhaps a tool organizer would work better. If they need tools and nails or screws then a bucket organizer is a good bet. If they just need to organize and carry their tools from location to location then a tool carrier would be best.
