Make a Rainbow Snow Fort
Make a Rainbow Snow Fort

The next time your children are out of school on a snow day, celebrate by building a snowman or snow fort in rainbow colors. It's a great way to make playing in the snow even more fun. You might even want to build a snow fort on the weekend!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • snow
  • snow shovel
  • spray bottles, 8-oz. size
  • food coloring
  1. Step 1

Make your snowman or snow fort as usually do. Make the structure as large as you want.

  2. Step 2

Fill the spray bottles with water. Add about 20 drops of food coloring to each bottle. Remember that you can mix colors to make new colors, if you want more colors than you have on hand. For instance, mixing red and yellow will make orange, while mixing blue and yellow will make green.

  3. Step 3

Shake the bottles gently until the food color is thoroughly mixed.

  4. Step 4

Spray the snowman or snow fort with the different color mixes. The color will lighten as it is absorbed by the snow, and the shape of the spray mark will blur slightly.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want more intense colors, use more food coloring in the spray mixture.
  • Don’t let children throw any snow that has become icy and hard.
  • Watch out for frostbite, especially on the hands.
