Make Facial Milk Soap

Goat milk is not only healthy for the inside of our bodies but also the outside. Goat milk's small molecular structure means that its beneficial properties are easily absorbed through the skin. By making facial soap out of goat milk you will have access to its natural emollients, which can sooth and moisturize the delicate skin of your face. The process for making facial milk soap isn't hard, just a little time consuming and the entire body will benefit from using milk soap.

Instructions

    • 1

Rub some petroleum jelly on the inside of the soap molds. This will help keep the soap from sticking in the molds. Set them aside. There are different things you can use for molds besides traditional soap molds such as a wooden drawer, paper cups or even candy and candle molds.

    • 2

Put 15 oz. of goat milk into a Ziploc bag and set in the freezer until it is slushy. Using nearly frozen milk will help to keep the lye mixture from caramelizing the sugars in the milk. This will keep the facial soap from turning an orange-amber color.

    • 3

Melt 5 oz. of coconut oil in a large stainless steel pan and take off burner. Add 25 oz. of olive oil and stir to mix the two oils together. Now is the time to put on your safety goggles and gloves.

    • 4

Place a glass pitcher in a large bowl and set in the kitchen sink. Put some ice in the bowl and take out the bag of slushy milk. Measure out 4 oz. of lye and slowly add a little to the milk. Stir to dissolve the lye and then add more lye, repeating until all the lye is dissolved in the milk. The lye mixture will still heat up a little, even with the ice and cold milk but not as much as it normally would.

    • 5

Add the lye and milk mixture into the pot of oils and stir with the stick blender until it's all mixed. Turn on the stick blender for about five seconds, turn it off and stir the mixture again. Keep doing this until the soap mixture gets to the consistency of cake batter. It is ready for the molds.

    • 6

Pour the soap into the molds, cover with a towel and place in a warm area. Leave the soap alone for at least 24 hours and then take out of the molds. Set them somewhere that they won't get bothered for two or three weeks and then use your new milk facial soap.
